We are a small group of around fifteen individuals, committed to the production and promotion of amateur film making within Rochdale. The club is affiliated to the Institute of Amateur Cinematographers (I.A.C.) Membership of the club isn’t limited to the Rochdale area. Fellow film makers travel in from various boroughs across North and East Manchester Since inception in the mid 1950’s, the club and its members have produced numerous films. Key genres covered by the club include documentaries and local interest with a good mix of comedy and drama to boot. Over the years, the club’s film making skills have been recognised within amateur circles, through the many competitions and awards we have won. This is due in part to both our friendly atmosphere and the enthusiasm of our members, who are keen to acquire and develop new skills. Over the years since the club was first formed there have been numerous advances in technology. The early days saw epics being shot on standard 8 cameras. Today most members shoot on digital camcorders and edit their prized footage on home PC’s or laptops. The last couple of years has seen the move of finished productions from video tape to DVD. Another opportunity for members to show off their artistic and design skills. Some in these parts say you can’t tell the difference from our printed DVD disks and covers over those on sale in the high street! Others in the club are always on the lookout for the next big thing that will enable them to close the gap with the pro’s!
